Makayla is a Ph.D. student in geobiology working with me on the isotopic characterization of the "dirty ice" ponds from McMurdo ice shelf in Antarctica, and on the preservation of organic materials in Mono Lake. She arrived at Caltech in 2018, having previously earned an MS degree in Earth and planetary science from MIT, and BS from UC Davis.
